Six years. One direction.
Founded in 2020 by two friends with over 20 years of combined motor-trade experience, GT Automotive Group has grown from five cars on a forecourt in Retford to a hand-picked prestige dealership and aftersales workshop in Sheffield. Here’s how we got here.
The beginning
Two friends with two decades of combined experience across franchise sales, aftersales and management start GT Automotive Group — doing everything themselves, from delivering cars to valeting the stock.
FCA authorised & our first showroom
We become FCA regulated, allowing us to offer finance options to our customers, and open our first dedicated showroom in Retford.
Outgrew Retford — moved to Sheffield
Demand quickly outstripped the Retford site. In November we moved into a larger home at Orgreave Way, Sheffield — room to grow the stock and the team.
Aftersales brought in-house
We add our own aftersales workshop — servicing and repairs handled on-site — and become an RAC Approved Garage, so the same standard of care continues long after the sale.
A step upmarket
A deliberate shift in direction: fewer cars, higher quality. We move away from budget runarounds towards hand-picked, carefully sourced vehicles — never bought blind at auction.
Going premium
We focus fully on German and prestige marques — the cars our customers actually want, presented to a standard that goes beyond expectation.
Still pushing
Our workshop is expanding and our prestige range keeps growing. Same two directors on the floor, same standard — just more of it.
